Dr. Albert Chun’s “Let’s Talk DC” Interview

Let’s Talk DC is a morning lifestyle show from ABC 7 News affiliate WJLA in Washington DC. Dr. Albert Chun is the managing physician at Modern Vascular in Fairfax, Virginia. Dr. Chun speaks to Kidd O’Shea, one of the hosts of Let’s Talk DC, about Peripheral Artery Disease.

Spreading Awareness About Peripheral Artery Disease

Kidd O’Shea begins the interview by explaining that those that are experiencing leg pain may have PAD. He prompts Dr. Chun to answer the question “What is PAD?” Dr. Chun explains that PAD, or Peripheral Artery Disease, is the narrowing of the arteries and that symptoms can be as mild as cramping in the legs while walking. The cramps can become more severe and significantly limit how far someone can walk. In more severe cases, a person with Peripheral Artery Disease can experience pain at rest and could lead to minor or major tissue loss.

Dr. Chun’s PAD Risk Reduction Tips

Dr. Chun suggests modifying and controllable risk factors, like smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Advancing age is another risk factor for PAD that can’t be modified. Vascular specialists can help patients manage those risk factors and determine the next steps if a patient is experiencing a blockage of the artery.

Peripheral Artery Disease can be effectively treated when diagnosed early and properly.

You can schedule a comprehensive evaluation for peripheral artery disease at a Modern Vascular clinic if you believe that you are at risk or to put your mind at ease.
