Modern Vascular Response to Misleading Article

As the CEO of Modern Vascular, I am aware of the recent negative campaign that was launched by our competitors.  It began as a biased article and I am reaching out to address the inaccuracies of that article.  I would like to assure you that this article has nothing to do with the reality of our operations, the benefit we provide to our patients and local communities, and the response to our services by our patients and the wider medical community.

Modern Vascular is an organization run by empathic and highly trained personnel in superbly equipped facilities.  We are known for our integrity, unmatched professionalism, and high quality of clinical outcomes.

The article referenced above is based on statements by 2 purported patients. We have over 64,000 patients. The article is based on statements by our direct competitors, but does not include a statement by a single unbiased expert.  I invite you to review our FAQ page, which addresses each of the inaccurate claims written in this article.

We know who is behind this campaign and we know their motivation.  Since our opening, we have been dedicated to eliminating unnecessary amputations among patients with peripheral arterial disease.  Our mission to reduce amputations offends those medical professionals who profit on expensive vascular surgery and amputations.  As recently highlighted by the American Heart Association in its March 25, 2021 policy statement, any argument for the status quo (e.g. revascularization procedures are “unnecessary”) is both professionally irresponsible and detrimental to our patient populations.

Here is what else I would like all of you to know:

  • Modern Vascular’s clinical talent includes top Vascular Surgeons, Interventional Radiologists, and Interventional Cardiologists, who are uniquely trained to perform minimally-invasive revascularization including in the pedal loop, which eliminates the need for unnecessary amputations. All of these professionals are united in the mission to prevent unnecessary amputations, extend lifespan of our patients, and reduce the overall cost to our healthcare system.
  • We are not a procedure mill. Modern Vascular only intervenes when it’s in the best interest of the patient. In fact, less than 50% of patients seen in a Modern Vascular clinics are recommended for our minimally-invasive outpatient procedure.
  • Our patients, many of which are your patients, love the care they receive. Modern Vascular’s internal patient satisfaction research shows 95% satisfaction rates.  Our New Mexico facility has a stunning 5.0 Google Review Rating. Patients often offer personal testimonials regarding their outcomes and improved quality of life.
  • Our facilities are superbly designed, staffed, and equipped. We have an open door policy for any professional who would like to visit any of our facilities.  This invitation is extended to each of you.  I would like to note that we have previously offered invitations to physicians who have criticized us: not a single one of them accepted our invitation to visit and see what we do.
  • Modern Vascular is firmly committed to quality of care and optimal outcomes for our patients. We will not be intimidated by false claims and smear campaigns. We believe in preventing lower extremity amputations. We believe in fighting for equal access to medical care for underprivileged communities.

While I have your attention, I would like to introduce our new Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Steve Berkowitz, who has recently joined our organization to lead clinical operations across our soon to be 18 clinic national footprint.  In alignment with our open door policy, Dr. Berkowitz is available to answer questions, set up a tour of our clinics, and address any concerns you might have. I hope you will reach out to him at [email protected].  We hope you will also click the link above and read about his impressive background before joining Modern Vascular.
