Modern Vascular celebrates 5 years of excellence!
As one of the founders of Modern Vascular, I am thrilled to celebrate 5 years of excellence in patient care. Modern Vascular is the product of tireless efforts of many people, those who imagined this organization at its inception and those who make it great today.
At the creation of Modern Vascular in 2017, the treatment of PAD was fragmented and the proper standards of care were murky. The industry was in transition from hospital-based PAD care to specialized outpatient models. Amputations were common because PAD treatment wasn’t prioritized in hospital systems and below-the-knee catheterization for treatment of PAD was extremely uncommon.
Today, in 2022, while the field remains somewhat fragmented, the approaches to multi-disciplinary treatment of PAD have improved and best practices have become more crystalized. Modern Vascular is proud to be at the forefront of that improvement with its intensive physician training programs, multi-layer quality and utilization control systems, and integration of walking programs into the overall treatment plans. Much more remains to be done but we have been instrumental in raising PAD awareness and amputation prevention.
Modern Vascular could not have grown from a single clinic five years ago to a 17-going-on-18 national brand and industry leader, and could not have saved thousands of limbs and lives, without the skilled and hardworking staff on the frontline of patient care and behind it.
We would like to take a moment to recognize employees who have been with Modern Vascular from its inception and helped shape the very concept which we know today as “Modern Vascular”: Dr. Scott Brannan, Andrew Hernandez, Lorena Reynoso, Lynn Cruz, Steve Springborn, Clark Warren, Elena and Mark Rabinovich, Tony Flores, Margaux Taskes, Reyes Pinon, Devin Walker, Donna Genabe, Yunuhen Martinez, Janice Hubbard, Andra Parry, and Kirstin Rizk. Also with us since the beginning was Tim Murphy, one of the original partners who remained enthusiastically dedicated to Modern Vascular until his passing in 2020.
Many key players have joined along the way. It is impossible to mention all those whom I consider to be vital to this organization and whose everyday work I treasure and appreciate.
Today and every day, we thank you for collaborating with us to make a difference.

treatment for peripheral artery disease (PAD). We anticipate that it will be instrumental in moving the
needle of PAD awareness.

Patient Stories: Featuring Two Patients’ Life-changing Results
“No longer bedridden at 27”
At 27, Christian Schott did not fall into the usual demographic of PAD patients. In fact, Christian had gone to the emergency room three or four times for his excruciating foot pain and, likely due to his age, seemingly was never tested for PAD. This narrow thinking lead to years of unnecessary pain for Christian, impacting his work as a custodian. By the time he was referred to Modern Vascular, the capillary refill time in his foot was 7 seconds. After his procedures with Dr. Jean-Baptiste, Christian’s severe peripheral artery disease is no long impacting his daily life or interfering with his work.

“He asked me what I wanted out of my treatment and then he surpassed it.”
Mobility returned, loses 60 lbs since his procedures: At the time of his initial appointment at Modern Vascular of Kansas City, Geoffrey Potts could only walk a few minutes before he had to stop to rest and let the pain subside. Needless to say, the once active outdoorsman’s quality of life had drastically decreased over the years as his peripheral artery disease caused walking to become more and more painful. After a procedure on each leg, Geoff’s life turned around. He has returned to his former hobbies of woodworking, hunting, and fishing, and now walks 2-3 miles and bikes 20 miles on a regular basis. In fact, the procedures Geoff underwent gave him back autonomy over his own health and body: no longer impeded by severe leg pain, Geoff’s return to an active lifestyle resulted in the loss of 60 lbs.
